REGISTER TODAY: 2019 Girls Baseball Development Camp in Cuba!

OTTAWA - From February 17-24, 2019, Baseball Canada will conduct a Girls Baseball Development Camp in Havana, Cuba for athletes aged 14-18.

This Development Camp, celebrating its tenth year of operation under the direction of Women’s National Team General Manager André Lachance, is proving to be a pipeline for future National Team talent.

“This trip is an invaluable experience for players looking to take their game to the next level,” he said. “Players will be challenged each day on the field as they compete in an environment that is foreign to them.

Ten of twenty players that won a bronze medal at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup in Florida last month were participants in the Girls Baseball Development Camp in previous years.

This program is specifically designed to provide athletes with a combination of competition and training in a warm climate and the opportunity to learn about the culture, history and people of Cuba. Participants will meet, train and compete with Cuban student athletes and coaches at Cuban sports facilities and venues arranged by the Cuban Ministries of Sport and Education.  Visiting athletes may also train with Cuban National Program coaches and pro players.  Competitions are arranged with Cuban athletes of skill levels similar to their Canadian counterparts. Program also serves as the first step of the identification process for the National Women’s Team program. Priority will be to players who participated at the 2018 16U and 21U Nationals but it is also open to any female athlete. Parents are also welcome to travel with the group and will get a $100 reduction.
