Braves Too Much for JNT at Disney

ORLANDO, Florida- The Atlanta Braves scored in all but two innings as they soundly defeated the Junior National Team 13-0 in the Fall Instructional League.

After scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning the Braves struck for three more in the second off JNT starter Steven Dressler (Burlington, ON). Two walks and two infield singles were enough for the Braves to score the runs during the half inning.

The JNT offence could not manufacture any runs and were held to only two hits during the game coming from Justin Marra (Toronto, ON) and Daniel Peakman (Victoria, BC).

With the Braves now leading by six, Anthony McKinley (Dartmouth, NS) started the fourth inning and gave up a walk and a double to give the Braves runners at second and third with none out. The Braves would take advantage of the situation when a passed ball ensued followed by a sac fly to give the Braves another two runs.

During the fifth and sixth innings, McKinley was able to hold the Braves off the scoreboard for the first time in the game. His day ended with him pitching three innings, giving up two runs on only one hit, walking two and striking out two batters.

Dayton Dawe (London, ON) came on for the seventh inning and gave up one run before the Braves scored four more in the eighth for the 13-0 lead.

The four runs given up by Dawe in the eighth came with two out on a walk followed by four straight singles. Dawe was able to strikeout three Braves batters during his outing.

Notes: The JNT will travel to Dunedin, FL on October 20th for a 1pm ET game against the Toronto Blue Jays…Tom Robson (Ladner, BC) will start for the JNT
