OTTAWA- Former Baseball Canada Manager of Baseball Operations, Kevin Briand (St-Hubert, QC) has been named Pro Scout of the Year by the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club.
Briand, who is in his first year as a pro scout spent five years (1995-1999) with Baseball Canada at the federations national office in Ottawa.
Prior to this year, Briand was the Director of Canadian Scouting with the Jays, a position he held since 2004. During this time Briand’s main responsibilities included maintaining relationships with amateur baseball organizations across Canada and keeping tabs on high-school players across the country.
Presently, Briand’s responsibilities include covering two MLB organizations and reporting on several professional players.
