Get ready for some championship baseball, Canada!

OTTAWA-The month of July provided Canadian baseball fans with plenty to cheer about after an extremely successful run at the Pan American Games for Baseball Canada’s National Teams. With August nearly here, there will be plenty more baseball excitement in store as nine of ten National Championships are set to take place, while the Junior National Team will select 20 players to compete in the WBSC U-18 World Cup in Osaka, Japan from August 28th - September 6th.

National Championship season officially gets underway on August 5th when the Baseball Canada Cup returns to Saskatoon for the second consecutive year.

Defending champion British Columbia leads a ten-team field that will compete for a National Championship. Semi-final and medal games will take place on Sunday, August 9th at Cairns Field in Saskatoon.

From August 13th-17th, five National Championship events will take place including the 13U National Western (Coquitlam/Moody, BC), 16U Girls Invitational and Senior Women Invitational (Saguenay, QC), 18U (Sherbrooke, QC) and 21U (Regina, SK). If you’re still thirsting for some championship baseball after that then you won’t have to wait long as the 13U National (Repentigny, QC), 15U Boys (Vaughan, ON) and Senior Men (Chatham, NB) events will take place from August 20-23.

You can follow all nine tournaments via Pointstreak with live scoring for each and every game.

On August 13th, the Junior National Team will depart for Australia’s Gold Coast where Head Coach Greg Hamilton and his staff will hold a selection camp to determine the 20 players that will represent Canada at the WBSC U-18 World Cup in Osaka, Japan. Canada will be looking to improve on their seventh place finish from the last time a world championship was held at the same age category in 2013.

The final National Championship tournament of the season, 13U National Atlantic Championship, will take place from September 11th – 13th in Yarmouth, NS.
