HOW IT HAPPENED

-The juniors struck early scoring a run in the top of the first as Miles Gordon (Oakville, ON) led off with a bunt single, advanced to third on a Kobe Hyland (Spruce Grove, AB) single before crossing home plate on a Braves error.
-After being held off the scoreboard by JNT pitchers Nick Virdo (Brampton, ON) and Michael Brettell (Fonthill, ON) through five innings, the Braves struck for four runs in the sixth – all coming with two out. Reliever Mathieu Deneault-Gauthier (Candiac, QC) issued a walk and after a stolen base, gave up a single that brought in the tying run. A walk and single allowed the go ahead run to score before a two-run double put the Braves up by three.
-The juniors rallied in the seventh plating a pair of run as Tristan Pompey (Milton, ON) scored from first base on an error after Andrew Yerzy (Toronto, ON) doubled. Yerzy then came into count on an RBI single off the bat of Darren Shred (Brampton, ON)

JNT HIGHLIGHTS

-The juniors received a pair of stellar pitching performances on the mound from Nick Virdo and Michael Brettell. Virdo started and went one and two-thirds innings and allowed only one hit and one walk. Brettell entered the game with two out in the second and proceed to retire seven batters in a row before an error put a runner on for the Braves to lead off the fifth. He did not allow a hit in three and one-third innings, and struck out two batters.
-Offensively the JNT doubled-up on the Braves in the hit department, 10-5 with Miles Gordon and Tristan Pompey collecting two apiece
-Andrew Yerzy had the only extra-base hit for the juniors
