National Championships awarded to Fredericton, Fort McMurray, Saguenay and Summerside

OTTAWA- Baseball Canada’s National Championships committee had the difficult task of determining hosts for four National tournaments last weekend at the Baseball Canada Fall Convention in Charlottetown, PEI.

Potential hosts put exceptional bids forth and in the end the following championships were awarded to the following hosts:

  • 2015 Senior Women Invitational – Saguenay, QC
  • 2016 Baseball Canada Cup – Fort McMurray, AB
  • 2016 Senior Men – Fredericton, NB
  • 2016 & 2017 15U Boys – Summerside, PEI

Hosts for all ten Baseball Canada National Championships in 2015 have now been selected although cities in Nova Scotia and British Columbia are still to be determined by Provincial organizations for the National 13U Atlantic and National 13U Western, respectively.

After playing host to the 16U Girls Invitational in 2014, Saguenay, QC will again host the event in 2015, while also welcoming some of the top senior female players to the area for the Senior Women Invitational from August 13-17.

The Senior Men National Championship will stay in the province of New Brunswick in 2016 as Fredericton was awarded the championship that will be played in Chatham, NB in 2015.

The Baseball Canada Cup will take place for the second year in a row in Saskatoon, SK in 2015 before shifting to northern Alberta and Fort McMurray in 2016.

Finally, after a seven year run of hosting the 15U Boys National Championship in Vaughan, ON, including the 2015 event, Summerside, PEI will play host to both the 2016 and 2017 editions of the tournament.

Some 2016 and 2017 National Championships are still looking for hosts.
