"Ray Carter Cup" to be presented annually to 15U National Champion

OTTAWA-Throughout his 40 years involved in baseball, including 16 years as Baseball Canada President, Ray Carter spent countless hours of his time dedicated to making amateur baseball better in his community, his home province of British Columbia and across Canada.

In recognition of all his years of service, Baseball Canada’s Board of Directors decided that Ray’s name should live long past his presidency and as such, the annual 15U National Champion will be awarded with the “Ray Carter Cup” when a tournament champion is crowned each August.

“Ray has always been so giving with his time and has spent a great deal of effort and energy helping others in baseball that the board felt it was time to recognize Ray,” said Baseball Canada Executive Director, Jim Baba. “It is a fitting tribute for a man who cares so deeply and has impacted Canadian baseball in many ways.”

Carter, the longest serving president in Baseball Canada’s 52-year history will be on hand in Charlottetown, PEI this August to award the trophy named in his honour at the 15U National Championship.

In addition to the trophy named in his honour and a trip Charlottetown later this summer, Carter will also be celebrated at the Baseball Canada Fall Convention next October in Fredericton and will attend the 2017 World Baseball Classic next March.
