Philippe Potvin s’est impliqué dès le début de la saison dans son association comme appointeur et responsable des arbitres. Le défi était très élevé pour lui, mais il a su le relever avec brio. Il est un arbitre qui a un talent énorme, qui se démarque et qui veut constamment s’améliorer. Il sera certainement à surveiller dans les prochaines années


Philippe Potvin has been involved since the start of the season with his local baseball association as coordinator of the umpires. This challenge was big for him, but he was able to do an excellent job. He is a very gifted umpire that is always trying to improve. Philippe has a bright future in front of him.

Accomplishments:

Tyler has umpired in a number of tournaments and house league games during his two years officiating with St. John’s Minor Baseball. Tyler has worked, to date, in the Festival of Baseball, Geoff Walsh Memorial Tournament, Mosquito (U11) and Pee Wee (U13) House League and Playoff Season, as well as the 2014 All Star Mosquito (U11) Invitational Tournament and Mosquito (U11) A All Star Provincial Championships.

Accomplishments:

Matt was recommended to attend the BC Baseball Umpires Association's Level 3 clinic prior to this season even though he had only 1 year of Level 2 umpiring under his belt rather than the required 2 years. However, he decided to delay attending the clinic until next season to further develop his umpiring skills in preparation which showcases the maturity of this 16 year old umpire. Matt is a young umpire with natural officiating abilities! Matt is always seeking opportunities to improve his umpiring skills by asking questions of more experienced umpires and watching other umpires officiate. Prior to this season, Matt decided to stop playing minor baseball to focus his time and efforts on his umpiring moving forward. Matt is willing to do any games that his assignors are needing to be filled regardless of age level and has even assisted neighboring associations (up to 2 hours away) if they are short and are needing umpires on weekends.The past two seasons, Matt has been able to umpire the "Valley of Champions" - an 80 team all divisions tournament in Kelowna, B.C. where he has umpired the Championship game. It is without a doubt that Matt will become a member of the Baseball Canada National program in the years to come!!


Matt a été recommandé pour participer au niveau 3 de l’association des arbitres de la Colombie-Britannique malgré le fait qu’il avait seulement arbitrer un an au niveau 2. Cependant, il a décidé de repousser cette clinique jusqu’à la saison prochaine dans l’optique de développer plus profondément ses habiletés, une décision qui démontre la maturité du jeune homme de 16 ans. Matt est un jeune homme qui possède des habilités naturelles. Matt est constamment à la recherche d’opportunités pour s’améliorer en demandant des questions aux arbitres qui possèdent plus d’expérience et en regardant les autres à l’œuvre. Avant cette saison, Matt a décidé d’arrêter de jouer au Baseball pour concentrer ses énergies sur son parcours d’arbitre. Matt est prêt à arbitrer n’importe quelle partie peu importe l’âge et la distance, même si c’est un soir de semaine Lors des deux dernières saisons, Matt a pu arbitrer au Valley of Champions, un championnat de 80 équipes à Kelowna où il a arbitré la partie du championnat. C’est sans hésitations que Matt deviendra un jour un membre du programme national de Baseball Canada pour les années à venir!!

Brennan is from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and has been umpiring for 5 years. Brennan has worked many regional and Provincial Chamionships and was assigned to the final game at the 2013 Bantam AAA provincials. This season Brennan has started to work at the Senior Men's level. Brennan is currently on the path to be come a Level 4 umpire.


Brennan est originaire de Darmouth en Nouvelle-Écosse, et il arbitre depuis maintenant 5 ans. Brennan a agit à titre d’arbitre à plusieurs championnats régionaux et provinciaux, et a été assigné pour arbitrer la finale aux championnats provinciaux Bantam AAA. In March of 2013, Steven visited Vero Beach to spend a day with the PBUC umpire evaluators. Steven 'hung out' all day and learned so much he was invited back. Steven also played ball this summer and while travelling down in the US with his own baseball team, the kids were given an afternoon of free time, many of the kids went to a nearby amusement park, but not Steven! He convinced his Dad to drive 2 hours to Ump Attire, so that he could meet and see the place he so frequently visits online. They were so happy with his passion, they gave him a tour, took a picture and posted it to their Facebook page, and did a little write up on young umpires. Steven still keeps in touch with them. He often orders from them, and puts any money he make right back into his gear. Steven seeks out other officials to talk umpiring and to learn from them. All of this is in effort to become a better umpire.


En mars 2013, Steven a visité Véro Beach pour passer la journée avec les évaluateurs d’arbitre PBUC. Steven a passé la journée avec eux, et il a été réinvité par la suite. Steven a également joué au baseball cet été et pendant un voyage aux États-Unis avec sa propre équipe, son équipe avait quelques heures de libre. La plupart des jeunes ont passé du temps dans un parc d’amusement, mais Steven a convaincu son père de conduire 2 heures pour l’amener au Ump Attire, un endroit qu’il avait si souvent vu en ligne. Le personnel a été si impressionné par sa passion qu’ils ont mis en ligne une photo de Steven sur leur page Facebook. Ce dernier est resté en contact avec eux, et il commande souvent son équipement d’arbitre à cet endroit. Steven est constamment en contact avec d’autres arbitres dans le but d’améliorer son propre rendement.

Chase loves all aspects of baseball. He has been playing baseball for 11 years, with the past 7 years at the AAA level for the St James A's. He has umpired for 6 years and this is his 1st year assisting coaching for the PW AAA team in St James. During the off season, Chase continues his baseball training at Home Run Academy formally Rookies Baseball Experience. Chase enjoys road trips to Minnesota to watch MLB games.


Chase aime tous les aspects du Baseball. Il joue depuis qu’il a 11 ans, et les 7 dernières années au niveau AAA pour les A’s de St. James. Il arbitre depuis 6 saisons, et cette année il agit à titre d’entraineur adjoint pour l’équipe Pee-Wee AAA à St-James. Pendant la saison morte, Chase continue son entrainement de Baseball au Home Run Academy. Chase fait également des voyages pour aller voir le Baseball de la MLB au Minnesota.

Accomplishments:

Chase is 17 and in grade 12 at Westwood Collegiate where he was named MVP for his baseball team the Westwood Warriors. They placed 3rd in provincials where he was Player of the Game twice and named to the All Star Team.
Chase's 1st year Midget, his AAA team finished 2nd at provincials and went to Westerns in Alberta.
After many years trying, on June 8th he hit his first official home run with AAA baseball.
His greatest experiences have been training the past 4 winters with HRA/Rookies to spend Spring Break to play teams in St Louis and Memphis. It has given many opportunities and helped set goals of playing college baseball.
Chase enjoys umpiring as much as he possibly can, the most rewarding part is giving back and mentoring the young umpires. When he can no longer play baseball his focus will be on coaching and umpiring.



Chase est un jeune homme de 17 ans en douzième année au Collège Westwood où il a reçu l’honneur du joueur le plus utile à son équipe, les Warriors de Westwood. Ils ont terminé au troisième rang aux provinciaux, et Chase a été nommé joueur du match à deux reprises et a fait parti de l’équipe étoile.
Durant sa première année au niveau Midget, l’équipe AAA de Chase a terminée au deuxième rang des championnats provinciaux.
Le 8 juin, il a frappé son premier coup de circuit en carrière au niveau AAA
Son expérience la plus grande a été de s’entrainer avec les HRA/Rockies pendant les 4 derniers hivers, ainsi que de passer la semaine de relâche à jouer contre des équipes à St-Louis et Memphis. Cette expérience lui a donnée beaucoup d’opportunités et a contribuée à son rêve de jouer au baseball niveau collégiale.
Chase profite de son expérience en tant qu’arbitre autant que possible. Ce qu’il trouve de plus valorisant est d’agir à titre de mentor auprès des jeunes. Lorsqu’il ne pourra plus jouer au baseball, il va se concentrer sur le coaching et l’arbitrage.

Last summer, Cody's younger brother went with the BOMBA team to Cooperstown All-Star Village. BOMBA was having difficulty finding an umpire able to go with the team due to work or school commitments. Cody wanted to go and after some calls by Dave Margetts to All-Star Village, it was cleared for Cody to go with the team. Once in Cooperstown, Cody quickly made them forget his young age, despite being All-Star Village's youngest umpire ever. The first week there he did 19 games, including the quarter and semi finals on the plate and first base in the Championship Game. Cody created such an impact, he was offered a job and returned to Cooperstown for the month of August and umpired for the remainder of the summer, gaining experience and game management skills each week. Cody was constantly in touch with various mentors both while in Burlington and while away. He is always trying to improve.


L’été dernier, le jeune frère de Cody est allé avec son équipe BOMBA au Cooperstown All-Star Village. BOMBA avait de la difficulté à trouver des arbitres en raison d’un conflit d’horaire avec l’école. Cody voulait y participer, et après quelques coups de téléphones de Dave Margetts, Cody a été en mesure de se joindre à l’équipe. Une fois à Cooperstown, Cody a eu une impression marquante pour son jeune âge, et ce, malgré le fait qu’il était le plus jeune arbitre de l’évènement. Cody a arbitré 19 parties à sa première semaine, incluant la partie de quart de finale et la semi finale derrière le marbre et au premier but. Cody a laissé une influence marquante, tellement qu’on lui a offert de retourner à Cooperstown pour le mois d’août pour arbitrer le reste de l’été, lui permettant ainsi d’améliorer son expérience et ses habiletés à chaque semaine. Cody est constamment en contact avec ses mentors lorsqu’il est à Burlington ou à l’extérieur. Il essaye constamment de s’améliorer.

Although he has only umpired 10 games thus far, Nathan is determined to stick with umpiring for the foreseeable future. He attended both the Level 1 and Level 2 clinic this year as he has quite the passion for the sport and wants to progress as far as he can in umpiring. Off the field Nathan is an avid reader, and has the ultimate goal of winning an Olympic medal in curling


Même si Nathan a seulement arbitré 10 parties jusqu’à date, il est déterminé à rester près de l’arbitrage dans le futur. Il a participé aux cliniques de niveau 1 et 2 cette année, et il possède une grande passion pour le sport qui va l’amener loin dans sa carrière d’arbitre. Hors du terrain, Nathan aime lire, et son but ultime serait de gagner une médaille d’or olympique au curling.

Accomplishments:

Nathan attended his first umpire clinic in 2014 and is currently umpiring in St. Albert. He decided to try his hand at umpiring after a friend urged him to take a clinic as he decided not to play baseball this year. Nathan is a fan of the game and likes being on the field. He has previous officiating experience in handball and thus Nathan already possesses some officiating ability.

Il a décidé d’arbitrer suite à la recommandation d’un ami de suivre une clinque, puisqu’il a décidé de ne pas jouer cette année. Nathan est un amateur du sport, et il aime donc être sur le terrain. Brett enjoys hockey, snowboarding but his favorite sport is baseball. It’s Brett’s love of the game that keeps him at the diamonds either as a player or officiating.

Accomplishments:

Brett has attended the Elite Umpire Training Program this past winter to prepare for the upcoming season. These sessions along with the support and knowledge of some of PEI’S senior officials have given him invaluable information and helped him gain more confidence at the plate.

Accomplishments:

He attended Fredericton High School where he graduated in 2012 as an Honour Student. Throughout Noah’s 13 years in school, kindergarten to grades 12, his attendance was at 100 % as he never missed one day of school in all those years. Truly showing that he has perseverance in what ever he does. He is the same working in ball as an umpire. Noah is involved in basketball and hockey with his favourite teams being the Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs. constantly seeking more knowledge through his association with senior umpires. He has officiated at the PW AAA, Bantam AA and Midget AA levels without difficulty. When required he has filled in at the lower levels as well interfacing extremely well with younger ball players. Attached is a brief note of thank you from Peter Mac Williams, coordinator of the Mosquito AA League. Noah has an easy approach to all assignments and his friendly, outgoing and helpful attitude have proven to be an important part of our officiating circle. His positive attitude and the professional manner in which he approaches all assignments are to be commended. Noah can be called on at any time, on short notice, to fill an assignment.


Noah a gradué de l’école secondaire Fredericton en tant qu’étudiant au rendement supérieur en 2012. Après 13 années passées sur les bancs d’école, de la maternelle à la douzième année, Noah n’a pas manqué une journée d’école. Ceci démontre à quel point Noah est en mesure de faire preuve de persévérance dans tout ce qu’il entreprend. Cette persévérance se transpose sur le terrain lorsqu’il agit à titre d’arbitre. Noah est impliqué dans le basketball et le hockey, alors que ses deux équipes préférées sont les Blue Jays de Toronto et les Maple Leafs. Alors qu’il cherche constamment à apprendre au sein de son association par l’entremise des arbitres senior, il a œuvré sans difficulté les niveaux Pee-Wee AAA, Bantam AA, et Midget AA. Lorsqu’on lui demande de remplacer pour les niveaux plus bas, il s’ajuste avec professionnalisme auprès des jeunes joueurs. Une lettre de Peter Mac Williams, coordonateur pour la ligue moustique AA s’ajoute à ce message en pièce jointe. Noah est facile d’approche, et il adopte une approche amicale qui contribue positivement à notre cercle d’arbitres. Il est également d’une grande aide avec son attitude de fonceur. Son positivisme, ainsi que son professionnalisme, méritent d’être soulignés. Nous pouvons toujours compter sur Noah pour nous dépanner, et ce, à n’importe quel moment de la journée.

When he's not umpiring, he loves to emcee school activities, takes part in school stage plays, plays several musical instruments such as the piano, drums, and bass guitar and helps at their family farm. Aside from baseball and softball, Ian also enjoys hockey and is a lifeguard at the community pool in Oxbow. Zone 1 Umpire Director said, "he's an active young lad with lots of potential". 


Outre l’arbitrage, il aime agir à titre de maitre de cérémonie pour les activités scolaires, il fait du théâtre, et il joue plusieurs instruments comme le piano, la batterie, la guitare, et il aide également avec la ferme familiale. Mise à part le baseball et le softball, Ian aime également le hockey et il est lifeguard à la piscine municipale d’Oxbow. Selon le directeur des arbitres de Zone 1, Ian est un jeune homme actif doté d’un fort potentiel.


 

Accomplishments:

Ian Stewart is a 17 year old umpire from Oxbow, SK. Although he has only umpired for a few years, his skills were already noticed and he was chosen to umpire during the Mosquito Provincials in 2013.


Ian Stewart est un jeune arbitre de 17 ans qui vient de Oxbow en Saskatchewan. Malgré le fait qu’il arbitre depuis seulement quelques années, son talent a été reconnu puisqu’on lui a demandé d’arbitrer le championnat provincial de niveau moustique.

Gabriel Lambert est un jeune très dynamique. Cet été, il a décidé de cesser de jouer afin de se consacrer entièrement à l’arbitrage. Ainsi, il a officié lors de 55 parties cette saison. Son comportement positif lui a permis d’officier les parties lors des séries de fin de saison A et B. Il s’est également très bien débrouillé au championnat provincial Pee-Wee B.


Gabriel is a dynamic young man. This summer, he decided to quit playing to concentrate fully on his officiating career. During the course of the season, Gabriel officiated in 55 games. His positive behaviour gave him the opportunity to work during the year end playoffs for categories A and B. He also did an impressive job with the Pee-Wee B provincial championship.
