Baseball and Soccer. ********** Le baseball et le soccer.

Accomplishments:

Emmett is 14yrs old and this is his 4th season of umpiring baseball. He started playing baseball and soccer in Kipling, Saskatchewan at the age of 6. He moved to Carlyle, Saskatchewan in 2010 where he continued to play ball, but there were no soccer teams his age group. He began umpiring in Carlyle at age 11 where Bill Wyatt got him interested and trained to umpire. There was an excellent crew of umpires of all ages to work with and learn from and Bill made sure the new guys were comfortable in their job and he was always available for questions. At age 12, Emmett decided to play competitive soccer out of Weyburn, Saskatchewan which he continues to play now in Swift Current. He still enjoys ball, and played slow pitch in Carlyle, Saskatchewan and continued to umpire whenever his soccer schedule would allow. 2 years ago Emmett umpired at Mosquito Baseball Provincials in Carnduff, Saskatchewan. He had a great weekend of umpiring and learned a lot, and even got to base umpire in the gold medal game. This is Emmett's first season umpiring in Swift Current and so far it has been a great experience. He has a great crew of umpires to work with here and Bryce Martin makes sure his training is current and any questions he has are answered. Emmett likes umpiring because it's a fun job that teaches great skills, like confidence, responsibility and decision-making. He also enjoys the teamwork involved in umpiring and the great people he's met through it. He is sure he will continue umpiring for many years to come.
