Votto to start All-Star Game

OTTAWA- Cincinnati Reds slugger Joey Votto (Etobicoke, ON) will be the starting first baseman for the National League when the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game takes place July 16th at Citi Field in New York.

Votto was voted to the starting line-up for the NL All-Stars by fans as Major League Baseball announced today rosters for the mid-summer classic.

Toronto-born Jesse Crain was selected to the American League club as a member of the Chicago White Sox.

Votto, the 2010 National League MVP, received  5,128,515 votes which was tops among NL first baseman. In March, he represented Canada at the World Baseball Classic and is having a stellar season, to date, with the Reds hitting .322 with 15 home runs and 40 RBI.

This is the fourth consecutive season that Votto has been named an All-Star.
