The impact of COVID-19 has become increasingly disruptive to sport and continues to have an expanding impact locally, nationally and internationally. Baseball Canada has been closely monitoring all available information related to the continued spread of COVID-19. The health and safety of our athletes, coaches, officials, staff and partners as well as upcoming events, is our priority.

Baseball Canada has been closely monitoring all available information related to the continued spread of COVID-19. The health and safety of our employees and partners as well as upcoming events, is our priority. After reviewing the relevant positions from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, and the Government of Canada, Baseball Canada has decided to postpone all its upcoming in person events until March 27, 2020 with intent to provide our membership with weekly updates on the situation. The following events are currently planned in our calendar for April and Baseball Canada will soon inform its membership on their status:
OTTAWA – The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced earlier today that the Baseball Americas Olympic Qualifier scheduled for March 22-26 in Surprise and Tempe, Arizona has been postponed due to player, personnel and spectator health and safety measures to counter the spread of the coronavirus.
SAINT PETERSBURG, Florida – With Major League Baseball cancelling the remainder of spring training due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Junior National Team’s scheduled games against prospects squads from the New York Yankees’ (Match 13) and Detroit Tigers’ (March 14) organizations have been cancelled.
DUNEDIN, FL--- Owen Caissie (Burlington, ON) drilled a solo home run off the centerfield batter’s eye in the sixth inning while Brando Leroux (Markham, ON) scored three runs and went 3-for-3 in facing the Toronto Blue Jays who fielded a lineup featuring players from the big league club.
SAINT PETERSBURG, FL--- A Philadelphia Phillies prospects squad managed by the legendary Ernie Whitt made the trek from their spring home in Clearwater to face the Junior National Team and came away with a 6-3 win.
SAINT PETERSBURG, FL--- Simon Lusignan (Varennes, QC), Vic Domingo (Vancouver, BC) and Caleb Clark (Orillia, ON) had solid outing on the mound for the Junior National Team but it was the Fort Lauderdale Stars who came away with a 4-0 win as spring training action continued at Baseball City.
SAINT PETERSBURG, FL--- David Calabrese (Maple, ON) drilled a solo home run in the seventh inning while Joshua Jones’ (Blainville, QC) RBI double in the bottom of the ninth scored the tying run as the Junior National Team played to a 3-3 tie with the Fort Lauderdale Stars.
SAINT PETERSBURG, FL--- Fresh off of a winter working out indoors, the Junior National Team program kicked-off their 2020 schedule facing some familiar faces on a Toronto Blue Jays prospects squad and held a brief lead before the Jays rallied to come away with a 7-4 victory.
