SWING FOR THE CURE HOME RUN DERBY
August 04, 2013

The Swing For The Cure Home Run Derby will kick off activities at the 2013 CitiFinancial Baseball Canada Under 21 Championship on Wed., Aug. 14, 7:00 p.m. at Beazley Field. Each of the 10 participating teams will nominate one player to represent its squad in an effort to win bragging rights for his team mates and province. Participants will wear pink jerseys during the competition, now a traditional feature recognizing the activity. Alana Doucette and her team, affectionately called Alana’s Angels, will organize the event. Doucette, a cancer survivor, and the Angels organized the Swing For The Cure Home Run Derby at the senior nationals held in ’09 and ’10, realizing significant monies for this very worthy cause. There is no admission charge for spectators attending the event, rather spectators will be asked to make a cash donation to the Swing For The Cure. All proceeds will be given to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
