Ontario batters send two over “Silver Monster” in rout of Sask.
TIGNISH - The Ontario Twins of Missasauga, Ont. Gave the 2006 Greco Baseball
Canada Midget Nationals its’ first two home runs and what better spot then over
the towering right field Silver Monster at Aces Diamond in Tignish.
Ontario built a comfortable lead of 14-0 thanks to five run first and six run
fourth as they easily put away Saskatchewan SunDevils of Saskatoon in five
innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Ian Campbell (1-3, two runs scored, four RBI, frand slam way over the Silver
Monster), Brandon Neuman (2-3, two runs scored, three RBI) and Curtis Kinden
(1-2, two runs scored) led the Twins.
For Saskatchewan, Matt Kosteniuk (1-2 run scored, RBI) and Sean Collins (1-3,
home run, two RBI) did the damage.
Eric Ventura went five innings allowing four runs on five hits, walking two and
striking out eight.
Losing pitcher was Brennan Luffman who went three strong innings, allowing eight
runs on five hits, walking four and fanning five.
