TIGNISH, P.E.I. - Three Manitoba Black Sox pitchers combined to pitch a one hitter as they dropped Newfoundland and Labrador to their second loss with a 9-0 defeat Thursday night in the conclusion of day one in Tignish P.E.I. at the 2006 Greco Baseball Canada Midget Boys nationals. Tignish is co-hosting with Summerside. Dan Perron (2-2, two run scored, RBI). Kiel Armstrong (2-4, two RBI, run scored) and Vivek Elmiban (2-5, two runs scored) led the damage. Justin Downey (1-3) was the lone Mount Pearl Blazer to hit off Kyle Neufield. Neufield earned the win in three innings of work striking out three. Nick Hayden suffered the loss allowing eight runs on six hits while fanning four batters. Action continues at Aces Diamond in Tignish and QEP in Summerside Friday. In Tignish, Manitoba opens with a game against Ontario at 9 a.m. followed by games at 11:30 pitting Saskatchewan against Nova Scotia Mets; 2 p.m. Ontario facing NL Blazers and then the feature game that two P.E.I. players in Jesse Macintyre and Kenzie Horne have marked on their calendar a 5:30 p./m. game against Quebec.
