Quebec Explodes for 12 In First Inning to Power Their Way to the Final Over Ontario
August 27, 2006

After giving up 2 runs in the top of the first to Ontario, Quebec responded by exploding for 12 runs in the bottom of the first, on the strength of 3 home runs, and left 4 Ontario pitchers in the dust along the way. Quebec's first runs came off a 3 run homer by Mathieu Vertefeuille (Game MVP), which was followed shortly thereafter by a 2 run blast by Mathieu Marcoux and the a solo shot by Hamza Naim. As if the 12 run first were not enough, Quebec added 3 more in the 2nd thanks in part to a 2 run home run by leadoff hitter Marc-Andre Payette.  On the mound, Philippe Banville got the start and was credited with the win. For Ontario, Adam Godo had a single and a double, while Michael Landsdowne, Michael Spezza, Daniel Poutsoungas, Aaron Palmer and Brad Drury contributed the remainder of Ontario's 7 hits. Daniel Poutsoungas was named Game MVP. Quebec will now go on to face Victoria in what should be an exciting final. Ontario will play Alberta for the Bronze.
