Province of PEI Announcement
June 18, 2008

The 2008 Canadian National Junior Baseball Championship Host Committee Inc. is proud to announce that the Province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) will be one the 2008 Canadian National Junior Baseball Championship “Platinum” sponsors.

While PEI may be Canada’s smallest province both in size and population it has, from the outset of confederation, been a major player in the Canadian family.  Its people are enormously proud of their land, culture and heritage and are always “Islanders”, whether at home or away.

They say that to be a “true blue” Prince Edward Islander you must be born here.  Otherwise, you're “from away”.  Despite this divine right to citizenship, Islanders adopt all who come to stay, as well as the 1.2 million annual visitors to Canada’s “Million Acre Farm”.  They come to the Island to enjoy its pastoral scenery, the dreamy white sandy beaches, the spectacular golf courses and relaxing lifestyle.  In fact, many who come to visit often return to make the Island their home.

The “Island way of life” is an often quoted and much discussed theme in Canada's “Garden of the Gulf”. For both Islanders and our visitors the quality of Life on this Island is the best.  It is an ideal place to raise a family, to operate a business or to rejuvenate the mind.  Who we are is clearly expressed in the Island’s arts, culture and heritage. Everywhere you will find crafts, theatres, and festivals that celebrate life here onPEI.

Enjoy delicious lobster suppers, stroll uncrowded beaches, play golf on more than a dozen courses. Visit the places described in the story, Anne of Green Gables, by Lucy Maud Montgomery. PEI has something to offer everyone..
