The 2008 Canadian National Junior Baseball Championship Host Committee Inc. is proud to announce that “Murphy’s Pharmacies” will be one the 2008 Canadian National Junior Baseball Championship “Gold” level sponsors.
Created in 1981 when Ray and Carolyn Murphy purchased Parkdale Pharmacy, in the community of Parkdale, Prince Edward Island (PEI), Murphy’s Pharmacies has grown from one pharmacy to a total of eight pharmacies located right across the province. Believing very strongly in health promotion, health education, and illness prevention, Ray and Carolyn have also expanded their pharmacy business over the past number of years to include five medical centres, two Island Home Health Care locations, Murphy’s Medication Compounding Laboratory, Murphy’s Health Education Centre, Parkdale Travel Health Clinic, Murphy’s Community Centre, and Murphy’s Community Care Pharmacy.
In addition to operating his vast business holdings, Ray has also found time to support a number of worthy initiatives within his community. A former councillor in the Town of Stratford, in 2007 Ray was awarded the highest honour bestowed by the province, the “Medal of Merit”, by Lieutenant Governor Barbara Hagerman for his many good works throughout the years including - working with the United Way of PEI, Salvation Army Red Shield campaign, Sherwood Parkdale Rural Minor Hockey Association, Red Cross, Greater Charlottetown and Area Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International, PEI Senators Hockey Club, PEI Pharmaceutical Association, board member and chair of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) Foundation, Chair of the QEH Endowment Fund, Vice-Chair of the Holland College Board of Governors, board member of the Fathers of Confederation Buildings Trust and co-chair of the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life.
