Trois-Rivières, August 19th 2010. - Manitoba took full advantage of a porous Saskatchewan defence to win 7-0, in it’s first game of the 2010 Baseball Canada Pepsi Junior Championship.
Manitoba scored once in the bottom of the first inning, when on a double steal attempt, Saskatchewan catcher Braden Polreis, saw his throw to third base, sail into left field, Daniel Worb scored on the play.
Manitoba extended it’s lead to 4-0 in the second inning. Brett Schreyer and Jesse Grant scored on an error, and Cody Hunter hit an RBI single.
Manitoba scored twice in the third. Jesse Grant on a ground-out, and an RBI single by Daniel Worb, made the score 6-0.
Leading off for Manitoba in the fourth inning, Cody Hunter hit a single, went to third on a wild throw to first base, and scored Manitoba’s seventh run, on a Elliot Desilets double.
The three Manitoba pitchers combined their efforts to toss a one hitter.
