OTTAWA-After some fantastic baseball at the Midget and Junior National Championships this past weekend, three more National Championship tournaments are ready for launch starting tomorrow.
Nanaimo, BC will host the Peewee Western championship where eight teams will participate. Host Nanaimo will be joined by Abbottsford as representatives of BC; Sherwood Park and Red Deer will represent Alberta; Saskatchewan will be represented by two clubs out of Saskatoon (Blue Jays and Braves) and Manitoba will send Winnipeg South and Midwest to the championship.
The tournament kicks-off with a Welcome BBQ on August 24th for all players, coaches and officials at Serauxmen Sports Field, home to all tournament games.
Action on the field begins on Thursday morning when Abbotsford takes on the Saskatoon Blue Jays at 1pm PST. The Opening Ceremonies will be at 4pm PST on Thursday.
Ridge Meadows, BC defeated the Saskatoon Braves in last year’s Gold Medal game.
For the third year in a row, Vaughan, ON will play host to the Bantam Boys championship. The eleven-team field features defending champion and host Vaughan joined by a representative from all ten provinces. Games will once again be played at Vaughan Grove where two different parks will host all of the action.
On Wednesday, players, coaches and officials will head to Rogers Centre in Toronto to watch the Blue Jays entertain the Kansas City Royals.
A great component to this year’s event will see eight games, including the Bronze and Gold Medal games, broadcast on locally courtesy of Rogers TV.

Over in Miramichi, NB the Senior Men championship will be a highly contested battle between ten clubs from across the country.
BC, Alberta, Manitoba and Newfoundland will send one team, while Ontario (Windsor, Mississauga) New Brunswick (Fredericton and host club, Chatham) and Nova Scotia (Halifax and Dartmouth) will each send two clubs to Miramichi.
Ironmen Field, the home of the Chatham Ironmen, will host the popular homerun derby on Wednesday evening which has become a fan-favourite at the event each year.
Seventeen games are scheduled for Ironmen Field in Chatham while the remainder of the schedule will be played at Waldo Henderson Field in Chatham Head.
Last year, BC defeated host Dartmouth 1-0 in the Gold Medal game.
