Senior Men (Miramichi, NB)

Newfoundland-3 NS1 Dartmouth-2

Mark Healy (St. John’s, NL) scored the go ahead run in the fifth on a wild-pitch and Newfoundland hung-on to beat Dartmouth 3-2. A pitcher’s duel saw Mike Janes (St. John’s, NL) toss a complete game to earn the win while Dartmouth’s Steve Nelson (Dartmouth, NS) took the loss after throwing six innings.

New Brunswick-6 Alberta-3

A scoreless tie ended in a hurry as Alberta scored three in the sixth only to see New Brunswick respond with five of their own in the bottom of the inning as they went on to a 6-3 win. Sherman Yeo (Saint John, NB) threw a complete-game to earn the win and Andrew MacDonald (Stratford, PEI) had two hits and a key RBI in the sixth. Jason Chatwood (Red Deer, AB) had a single and three RBI’s.

Chatham-14 NS2 Halifax-4

Tom Burns (Miramichi, NB) hit two, three-run homers and had seven RBI’s as Chatham beat Halifax 14-4 in a mercy-rule game. Jason Dickson (Fredericton, NB) pitched five innings to earn the win and Derek Wilson (Fredericton, NB) contributed a solo homerun. Cory Christie (Sydney, NS) hit a solo and two-run homer while Adam Lucas (Sackville, NS) had a solo homer for Halifax.

BC-10 Manitoba-0

Shawn Schaefer (Pitt Meadows, BC) tossed a one-hitter and BC exploded for eight runs in the fifth to mercy Manitoba 10-0. Robby Recuenco (Vancouver, BC) had a single, two doubles and two RBI’s to lead the charge for BC.

NS1 Dartmouth-4 ON2 Mississauga-2

Marek Deska (Toronto, ON) threw a complete-game that included ten strikeouts as Dartmouth defeated Mississauga 4-2. Dartmouth received all of the offence they would need from a Colin Johnson (Dartmouth, NS) two-run homer and a Rob Gillis (Toronto, ON) solo blast. Mississauga’s Jerome Smith (Mississauga, ON) hit a solo homerun in the loss.

New Brunswick-4 Newfoundland-3

John Burns’ (Fredericton, NB) three-run homer in the top of the seventh proved to be the difference as New Brunswick edged Newfoundland 4-3. Burns also had a single and double to lead the New Brunswick offence. Newfoundland did not go away quietly as they put two runs across in the bottom of the seventh before Jake Waugh (Fredericton, NB) recorded the final out of the game. Mike O’Neil (St. John’s, NL) had three singles and one RBI for Newfoundland.

Chatham-2 ON1 Windsor-1

In front of an estimated 3,000 fans, host Chatham sent the faithful home happy with a 2-1 win over previously unbeaten Windsor. Darren Hardy’s (Miramichi, NB) RBI double sparked a two-run fourth inning and Matthew Jenkins (Miramichi, NB) gave-up one run on six hits in a complete-game victory. Windsor’s Steve Teno (LaSalle, ON) had six strikeouts while taking the loss.

In other action, Jordy Alexander (Burnaby, BC) tossed a complete-game four-hitter as BC remained undefeated with a 5-1 win over Halifax.
