About the Host City

Small City..Big Ideas.....

The City of Summerside has a population of just under 15,000 and is PEI'S second largest community. Rich with history, exciting events, and unparalleled hospitality, Summerside is a great place to work, play, live and visit. With premier sporting and cultural events, first class accomodations and attractions, and City-sponsored facilities and programs, our community takes pride in its "never a dull moment" philosophy.

Summerside has good reason to boast it is one of the greenest cities in Canada. From Green Park on the picturesque waterfront to the trails of Rotary Park on the North end, Summerside has 12 day parks and more than a dozen sports fields. Designated as the official start of the Confederation Trail in Canada, nature paths lead out from the center of the city towards each end of the province.

Sports have been a big part of Summerside's history. From hosting Canada Summer Games events to harness racing to baseball to hockey, golf and curling, we've hosted it all. With 3 lighted ball fields, the city has hosted many national and international softball and baseball events. The Sports Network (TSN) gave Summerside the unofficial title of 'Canada's Tournament Town" a few years back. Three NHL hockey teams have even called Summerside home for training camps and exhibition games. The pride of our city is the new  "Credit Union Place". A $38M state of the art complex that includes two swimming pools, two sports arenas with seating for 3800 people, meeting rooms, eight lane bowling center, spa, walking track and a fitness center.

Summerside's fresh clean air, easy access and unhurried pace makes it the perfect location to give visitors a pleasant and relaxing experience !
