About the Host City

North York, “The City With Heart” is one of the most diverse areas of Toronto, as it contains some of the most affluent areas of the city (The Bridle Path, Hogg's Hollow, York Mills, Willowdale, and Don Mills). It is home to many popular tourist attraction, such as the Ontario Science Centre, Edwards Gardens, and Mel Lastman Square which hosts many outdoor cultural events all year long and live free Bandstand concerts throughout the summer. There is always something going on. It also has many popular shopping attractions like Fairview and Yorkdale Mall. A significant mall project recent to North York, and just around the corner from our Bond Park, is the complete revamp of the Don Mills Centre. Once an small outdoor plaza, then a small enclosed mall, it once again has been transformed into a beautiful outdoor walking plaza, full of boutique shopping, fabulous restaurants and a community central area complete with a small bandstand for concerts and a kid friendly water fountain drawing both kids and parents alike for a foot dipping! We truly hope you enjoy our city.
