PLAY BALL……..

Greetings from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, proud home of the 2014 13U National Peewee Atlantic Baseball Championships, which are being held from September 4 to 7, 2014.  We are confident that this championship will be a great one.  The Charlottetown Area Minor Baseball Association, along with Baseball PEI, the City of Charlottetown, the Province of Prince Edward Island and the Charlottetown Royals are pleased to host this event.  Please take the time to review the details below regarding the championship so that your experience in Charlottetown will be an enjoyable and memorable one.

TEAMS (Players, Coaches and Team Officials):

Teams that are playing in the evening must arrive in Charlottetown by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014.

Teams are asked to provide their travel itinerary to the Host Committee as soon as available.

Accommodations:

The host hotel is the Holiday Inn Express, located on Capital Drive.  A block of rooms have been reserved at the hotel for the players/coaches.

A block of rooms has also been reserved at the Super 8 Charlottetown located just office Capital Drive.

All rooms are blocked for arrival on September 3 and departure on September 7.

Payment for all accommodations is the responsibility of the travelling teams.  The Holiday Inn Express and Super 8 Charlottetown have provided rooms at very competitive rates.  It is highly recommended that teams stay there for logistical purposes and to support a major tournament sponsor that is helping make this event a great one.

Transportation:

Teams and officials who are flying in will arrive at Charlottetown Airport (YYG), which is approximately 10 minutes from the hotel.

Transportation to the host hotel and all local travel, including transportation to and from the fields, is the responsibility of the travelling teams.

Games:

Games will be played at City Diamond and Central Field operated by the City of Charlottetown.  Both fields have lighting.  There will be washrooms and concessions available at the fields.  Baseball Canada merchandise will also be available for purchase.

Opening Ceremonies:

Opening ceremonies will be held at the fields at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 4.  All teams are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to prepare for marching in.  Please be in full uniform and bring your provincial flag.

 Meetings:

The Pre-Championship Meeting will take place at 10:30 am on Thursday, September 4th 2014 at Sport PEI (40 Enman Cres)

Banquet:

The Championship Banquet will be held on the evening of Saturday, September 6 at a location to be determined.  Stay tuned for updates regarding the exciting program we have for the banquet.  Tickets for the Banquet will also be on sale for fans and the public.

UMPIRES

Umpires should arrive in Charlottetown by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3.

Umpires are encouraged to attend the Championship Banquet on Saturday, September 6.  More details to follow.

Nine rooms for Umpires and Baseball Canada representatives have been booked at the Super 8 Hotel located off Capital Drive.  These suites can accommodate 2 umps per room.  All rooms are booked for arrival on September 3 and departure on September 7.  Individual umpires must arrange and cover costs for earlier arrival and later departures.  Details and contact information will be provided at a later date.

 

Transportation will be arranged for all umpires.  Umpires will receive a Meal Per Diem from the Host Committee at the Pre-Championship Meeting, details of which will follow.
