Nanaimo Minor Baseball Association is proud to host of the 2011 Baseball Canada Pee Wee AAA Western Championships and would like to welcome you to Nanaimo, British Columbia.

We request that you please take the time to review the following details regarding our championship so your experience in Nanaimo will be an enjoyable one.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the host committee.

 

TEAMS: (Players, Coaches and Team Officials)

Teams must arrive in Nanaimo by Wednesday, August 24, 2011 by 3:00 p.m.

 

TRANSPORTATION:

BC Ferries:  The summer season is the busiest time of the year to travel to Vancouver Island via the BC Ferry system.  We would recommend that you obtain a reservation on your specific sailing if you are traveling by car by contacting BC Ferries at:  1-888-BC-FERRY (1-888—223-3779) or reserving online at www.bcferries.com.

Local transportation will be provided to teams (including players, coaches and manager only) to and from the local Nanaimo Airport (Cassidy Airport) only to the below select hotels.

Transportation for players, coaches and manager to the pre-championship dinner and games will be provided only to and from the below select hotels.

PRE-CHAMPIONSHIP DINNER:

Nanaimo Minor Baseball will be hosting a welcome dinner for all teams including players and officials at Serauxmen Sports Field on August 24 at 5:00 p.m.  The cost for this dinner will be $15.00 per person and pre-order forms will be sent to each team once all teams are known.  The attendance of all players and coaches is requested.  Additional tickets will be available on a pre-order basis.

 

EVENT PASSES:

Event passes will be available on a pre-order basis (players & coaches – no cost) prior to the Championship.  A 4-day event pass will be available for $15.00/person with children 12 and under free.  There will be a daily event pass option at $5.00/day.


OPENING CEREMONIES:

Opening Ceremonies will take place on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 4:00 pm at Serauxmen Sports Field. We request that all teams are there for 3:15 p.m.

 

VENUE/BALLFIELD:

All games will be played at Serauxmen Sports Field at 850 3rd Street, Nanaimo, BC (Enter park off of Jinglepot Road – follow 3rd Street to Jinglepot). 

A practice schedule has been prepared to allow each team time to practice on the actual fields for 1 hour on Thursday, August 25, 2011 and a ½ hour in the batting cage.  This schedule will be provided to each team prior to the championship.  If you would like additional field time please contact one of the Tournament Coordinators on site.

 

PRE-CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING:

The Pre-Championship Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 24, 2011 starting at 6:30 pm at the Field House at Serauxmen Sports Field.  Each team is permitted only to send two (2) reps and their Provincial Rep.

 

UMPIRES:

Umpires must arrive in Nanaimo by Wednesday, August 24, 2011 by 3:00 p.m.

Umpires are requested to attend the Dinner at Serauxmen Sports Field starting at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2011.

Umpire Accommodation has been arranged at the Howard Johnson.  There will be two umpires per room.  Accommodations are available and paid by the host committee from August 24 to 30 (inclusive).  Individual umpires must arrange and cover costs for earlier arrival and later departures. 

Transportation has been arranged for pick up and drop off at the local airport (Cassidy Airport) and to and from the ball field during the championship for all umpires.  Umpires will receive a meal per diem at the Pre-Championship Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.
