Greetings from Halifax, Nova Scotia, proud hosts of the 2008 Baseball Canada Midget Baseball Championships! Plans are well on their way to ensure this year’s championship will be a great one. Please take the appropriate time to review the outline details regarding our championship, so that your experience in Halifax will be an enjoyable one.
 
 
TEAMS: (Players, Coaches and Team Officials)
 
Teams must arrive in Halifax by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008.
 
Players and Coaches are asked to be at the Official Opening Ceremonies and Welcome Pizza Party at Mainland Commons Field starting at 5:30 p.m. August 6, 2008. (Complimentary for Players, Coaches & Manager).
 
 
GAMES
 
Games will be played at both Mainland Commons Field in Halifax and Beazley Field in Dartmouth. A shuttle bus service will transport teams to and from our accommodation headquarters, Mount Saint Vincent University. The field  in Halifax seats approx. 1000 people and the field in Dartmouth seats about 1500, with both have concessions stands and access to washrooms.  Practice times are not available due to field availabilty, transportation and logistics.

MEETINGS
 
The Pre-Championship Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6 starting at 8:00pm at Mount St. Vincent University. Each team is permitted to send only two (2) reps per team and their provincial representative.
 
 
UMPIRES
 
Umpires should arrive in Halifax by 4:00 p.m. on August 6, 2008.
 
Umpires are asked to be at the Official Opening Ceremonies and Welcome Pizza Party at Mainland Commons Field starting at 5:30 P.M. August 6, 2008.
 
Accommodations for Umpires have been arranged at Mount St. Vincent University. There will be two umpires per room. Accommodations are available and paid by the host committees from August 6 to August 11 (Inclusive). Individual umpires must arrange and cover costs for earlier arrival and later departures. Umpire Transportation has been coordinated by Baseball Nova Scotia Umpires Division. Please contact them for more details. 
 
 
 
 
Umpires will receive a Meal Per Diem from the Host Committee upon arrival at the championship.
 
 
TRANSPORTATION
 
  
Teams must arrive in Halifax by 4 pm on Wednesday, August 6, 2008. For teams flying into Halifax, transportation will be arranged for pick up and departure. However, it is critical that our transportation coordinator, Diana McIntyre, be informed when flight arrangements have been confirmed. Diana can be reached at mcintyrb@accesswave.ca or 1-902-835-7578.
 
Transportation will be provided for team members, coaches and chef de mission only. Team transportation will also be provided between Mount Saint Vincent University and our ball fields for games, opening ceremony/pizza party and for championship game. All other transportation needs are an individual team responsibility.
 
 
 
ACCOMMODATIONS FOR PLAYERS
 
 
All teams will be housed at Mount Saint Vincent University. All individual team managers/ chef de missions should contact our accommodation coordinator, Pat Murphy1-902-453-2099 or pg.murphy@ns.sympatico.ca.with the following: complete team list, players, coaches, and chef de mission with contact email/cell phone information for chef. All arranged accommodations are available from Wednesday, August 6th to Monday, August 11thth. All accommodations include breakfast.
 
 
 
TEAM MEAL PLAN OPTION
 
 
Mount Saint Vincent University has offered a meal plan option for all teams staying at the University. The costs are $6.75 plus HST for lunch and $ 7.75 plus HST for dinner per person per meal. For complete information on menus and prices, please have your team manager/ chef de mission contact Patricia Drake directly at 902 457 6355 or patricia.drake@msvu.ca.. No communication assumes your team does not want the meal plan option. All teams must have their meal plan information and full payment to Patricia no later than July 23, 2008 to confirm their meals plan requirements.
 
 
ACCOMMODATIONS FOR FAMILY/FRIENDS
 
 
FUTURE INN has partnered with the Mets for family/fan accommodations, and is located within walking distance of our Mainland Commons field. The address is 30 Fairfax Drive. The FUTURE INN may be contacted directly at 1-800-565-0700.  Please identify yourself as being here for the National Championships. A limited number of rooms have been secured for the Midget Nationals.

Minor Baseball Players in uniform (15 and Under) – Free
