Greetings from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – host of the 2016 DQ® 13U National Western Championship.
Planning is well underway to ensure that everyone attending this Championship Tournament will have an enjoyable experience during their time in Saskatoon. Please review carefully the following details regarding the tournament to ensure that your visit to Saskatoon will be a memorable one.

TEAMS (Players, Coaches and Team Officials)
Teams are requested to arrive in Saskatoon by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10th, 2016.
Activities are being planned for teams on Wednesday, August 10, including a Welcome Supper and a Home Run Derby. Details will be sent to the participating teams once the teams have been determined.

TRANSPORTATION
(Transportation will only be offered to teams, umpires and tournament officials.)
Teams and officials flying into the Saskatoon Airport (John G. Diefenbaker International Airport) will be picked up and transported to their accommodation. Return transportation will be provided on your departure.
Transportation, as required, will be provided for players, coaches and other team officials, and umpires and tournament officials between the ball field and the host hotels only.
TOURNAMENT VENUE
All games will be played at the Geoff Hughes Baseball Complex, 1306 Fletcher Road, Saskatoon. This complex contains three fields, the Ed Bryant, Resch and Joe Zeman Fields. The ball park has washrooms and a concession.

Practice time on the fields may be available on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 10, and on the morning of Thursday, August 11 (until 11 am), and in the batting cages throughout the tournament. A schedule will be prepared and provided to each team. Bookings for time in the batting cages during the tournament should be made through the Tournament Site Director.
WELCOME SUPPER
Saskatoon Minor Baseball will be hosting a Welcome Supper for all teams including players and officials at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, in the Clubhouse at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex (click here for location), a 10-minute walk from the Geoff Hughes Baseball Complex. There will be a cost of $20 per person for all non-participants. The attendance of all players and coaches is requested. Pre-order forms for tickets to the Welcome Supper will be sent to each team once the teams are known.
A Home Run Derby will be held before the Welcome Supper at 5:00 pm on Resch Field. Details of this competition will also be sent to all teams.
OPENING CEREMONY
The Opening Ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. on Joe Zeman Field. All teams, umpires and officials are expected to participate and are asked to be at the ball park by 3:00 p.m.
MEETINGS
The Pre-Championship Meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 9:15 PM at Cairns Field.
Each team is permitted to send two (2) representatives per team and their provincial representative.
UMPIRES
Umpires should arrive in Saskatoon by 4:00 p.m. on August 10, 2016. Transportation will be provided to and from the airport and during the tournament. The Umpire Relations Director is Ed Bryant (e.bryant@sasktel.net).
Umpires are invited to attend the Welcome Supper at 7:00 p.m. at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex.
Accommodation for Umpires has been arranged at the Radisson Hotel. There will be two umpires per room. Accommodations are available and paid for by the Host Committee from August 10 to August 16 (6 nights). If departing prior to August 16, please advise the Umpire Relations Director.
Umpires will receive a Meal Per Diem from the Host Committee at the Pre-Championship Meeting which will be held at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, at the Radisson Hotel.
Individual umpires must arrange and cover costs for earlier arrival and later departures.

Tournament passes go on sale August 1 and may be pre-ordered (email saskatoonminorbaseball@hotmail.com) or purchased at the ball park.
Complimentary Passes for teams and officials will be distributed at the pre-tournament meetings.
