Baseball Canada to receive Sheila Robertson Award from the Coaching Association of Canada

OTTAWA- Baseball Canada is thrilled to be the recipient of the Coaching Association of Canada’s (CAC) Sheila Robertson Award for 2017 honouring a National Sport Organization or Multi-Sport Service Organization that demonstrates a consistent approach in valuing and recognizing the role of the coach within the organization, the media, and the public.

The award will be formally presented to Baseball Canada’s André Lachance this evening in Calgary at the 2017 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Awards Gala.

"Receiving the Sheila Robertson Award means so much to Baseball Canada as we work hard to serve the needs of our coaches at the various stages of development," said Lachance. "We are fortunate that we can count on our provincial members and also on our cross-country team of coach developers to activate our innovations, while also recognizing how other sports organizations have made us better through knowledge-sharing collaboration."

Developed in 2005, Baseball Canada’s National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) online system has over 40,0000 baseball coaches enrolled from coast-to-coast with hundreds of new coaches joining each year. The system has acted as a model that is used in a similar capacity for many other sport organizations.

“We take great pride in our online system and ensuring that it is an important resource in a coach’s toolkit,” continued Lachance. “Of course we are thankful to many across the country to have helped develop, grow and promote our system and coaching programs to coaches across Canada.”

Baseball Canada would like to congratulate all of the 2017 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Award winners.
