OTTAWA – Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the names of 38 athletes selected to attend Junior National Team Training Camp in Ajax, Ontario from August 18 – September 1. Following the camp, a select number of players will travel to Florida for a seven-game Friendship Series against the United States.

On August 4th, 1991, at Westbran Stadium in Brandon, Manitoba, 18 scrappy teenagers did something that no Canadian baseball team had done to that point and that no Canadian baseball team has managed to repeat since, they won a world baseball championship. A 5-2 win over Chinese Taipei in the gold medal game of the World Youth Baseball Championships (now known as the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup) sent an overflowing crowd of 5,000 fans into mass jubilation when pitcher Jason Birmingham flipped a comebacker to first baseman Troy Croft for the final out.

OTTAWA – The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) along with the Sarasota-Bradenton Local Organizing Committee and USA Baseball announced today the postponement of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Bradenton and Sarasota, Florida, to 2022 due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic both domestically and internationally.
