OTTAWA- Former National Team Coach and longtime Canadian baseball scout Wayne Norton will be formally inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame tomorrow, on the grounds of the hall in St. Marys, Ontario.
OTTAWA- The San Diego Padres used the 8th overall selection in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft this evening to select Port Hope, Ontario native Cal Quantrill out of Stanford University.
WHAT: The annual Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft (or Rule 4 Draft) gets underway tonight with the first 77 selections (Round 1, Competitive Balance Lottery Round A, Round 2, Completive Balance Lottery Round B), continues Friday with rounds three through ten and concludes on Saturday with rounds 11-40.

OTTAWA – It may not feel like spring in parts of Canada, but across locations in Florida and Arizona spring training is underway for all thirty Major League Baseball clubs that includes 15 Canadians among those in big league camp.

OTTAWA- Not that long ago, Canadians were represented on baseball prospect lists by the likes of Michael Saunders, James Paxton, Brett Lawrie and more recently, Dalton Pompey. With all of the aforementioned having reached the big leagues, a new wave of Canadian prospects are emerging led by a trio of Junior National Team grads.
