SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic- From start to finish at he inaugural U20 Women’s International Cup, Canada dominated the competition scoring 54 runs while only surrendering ten in running the table and capturing gold by defeating the host Dominican Republic 13-3 Sunday afternoon at Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal.

SANTO DOMINGO, DR – As Team Canada’s starting pitcher Ann-Sophie Lavallée was getting stronger, Mexico’s pitching staff fizzled, and a seven-run fifth inning propelled the undefeated Canucks to the gold medal game of the inaugural Women’s International Cup with an 11-1 mercy rule victory at Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal.  Canada will face the Dominican Republic, who edged Cuba 9-8 in the other semi-final, at 2pm ET Sunday for the championship.

SANTO DOMINGO, DR – The Mexican defenders were chasing Emma Carr’s hits all over Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal today.  She hit one so hard that her teammate couldn’t even get out of the way of it on time and was called out in the second inning!  The centre fielder from Toronto had two hits for the third consecutive game as Canada beat Mexico 7-3 to wrap up the round-robin portion of the inaugural U20 Women’s International Cup tournament with a perfect 3-0 record.

SANTO DOMINGO, DR – From coast to coast, like butter on toast, southpaw Claire Eccles (White Rock, BC) and righty Katie Hagen (Dartmouth, NS) used their poise as well as their curve balls to get out of jams in combining on a four-hitter while striking out six in Team Canada’s convincing 9-1 win over the host Dominican Republic at Santo Domingo’s Olympic Stadium at the inaugural U20 Women’s International Cup tournament.

SANTO DOMINGO, DR – All Daphnée Gélinas didn’t do is score four times!  Otherwise, the Repentigny, QC right fielder had four at bats, four hits, and drove in four runs as Canada exploded for seven runs in the first inning and cruised to a 12-2 five-inning mercy rule win over Cuba in the opening game of the inaugural U20 Women’s Baseball International Cup at Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal.  Her uniform number is even 22, and we know what 2 + 2 makes!

SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS, DR – The Junior National Team capped off the Dominican Summer League tour with a 15-7 win over MLB Prospect League in a contest that spanned over four hours and featured 27 hits, 10 errors and 19 walks, 15 of which were issued by the Prospects.

BOCA CHICA, DR – After sweeping a doubleheader yesterday, the Junior National Team got behind the Cincinnati Reds Dominican squad early and fell by a score of 8-2. The Reds used 11 hits including five doubles, while the juniors could only muster three hits on offence and committed six errors.
