OSAKA, Japan-After an eight-game series against the Australian U-18 National Team on the Gold Coast and two practice days in Osaka, the Junior National Team can now focus on the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup that will get underway on Friday when they take on Chinese Taipei at Nanko Chuo Stadium (12:30pm JST/11:30pm EDT 08/27).
It took eight games, but Canada finally earned a win in the Australia-Canada U-18 Series as they shutout the Aussies, 1-0. The win means that Canada will head to the WBSC U-18 World Cup on a high note after they dropped the first seven games of the series. Canada will open the World Cup on Friday against Chinese Taipei.
GOLD COAST, Australia- Baseball Canada announced today the 20-player Junior National Team roster that will represent Canada at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Osaka, Japan from August 28-September 6.
Canada came up on the wrong end of both games of a doubleheader as the Australian U-18 side shutout the Canadians, 4-0 in game one before coming from behind to earn a 3-2, walk-off win in game two. Australia is now 7-0 in the eight game series with one game remaining, tomorrow (1:00pm AEST/11:00pm EDT).
Five errors came to haunt Team Canada as they fell to the Australian U18 side, 8-3 and in doing so dropped their fifth game in a row as the Canada/Australia U18 Series continues.
For the second consecutive day, Australia hung on to defeat Canada in a one-run ballgame, this time by a score of 4-3. The win gives Australia a commanding 4-0 lead in the eight-game Canada/Australia U18 Series.
Canada came out flat and did not do themselves any favours as they suffered a 13-1 loss at the hands of the Australian U18 National Team. With the win, Australia moves to 2-0 in the eight-game series, while Canada is still searching for their first win.
The Australian U18 National Team used a five run fourth inning to break a 2-2 tie and they held on to defeat the Canadian U18 Junior National Team, 7-2 in the opening game of an eight game series between the two nations.

OTTAWA- Baseball Canada announced today 24 players that have been invited to the Junior National Team’s final selection camp that will take place on Australia’s Gold Coast from August 16th- 24th.
