British Columbia Completes Perfect Run to Capture 13U National Championship Gold
WOODSTOCK, ON – British Columbia completed an undefeated run through the 2026 13U National Championship with an 11–4 victory over Québec 2 in Sunday night’s gold-medal game at Southside Park.
B.C. finished the tournament with a perfect 6–0 record, combining a powerful offence with strong pitching throughout the week.
Québec 2 struck first in the championship game, scoring once in the top of the first, but British Columbia answered immediately with four runs in the bottom half to take control.
Québec 2 cut the deficit to 4–3 in the third, setting up what looked like a tight finish. Instead, B.C. responded with the decisive inning of the championship, scoring six times in the bottom of the third to open a 10–3 advantage.
British Columbia added another run in the fourth before holding Québec 2 to a single run over the final four innings to secure the 11–4 victory and the national title.
The win capped a dominant week for B.C., which swept Pool A with victories over Alberta, Ontario 2 and Prince Edward Island, outscoring its opponents 40–5 through preliminary play.
British Columbia then carried that momentum into the elimination round, shutting out Nova Scotia 4–0 in the quarterfinal before defeating host Ontario 11–4 in Sunday’s semifinal.
The gold medal moves B.C. one step higher on the podium after earning silver at the 2025 13U National Championship.
Québec 2 Earns Silver After Strong Run to Final
Québec 2 also entered the championship game undefeated after navigating its side of the bracket with five consecutive victories.
The team swept Pool B with wins over host Ontario, British Columbia 2 and Newfoundland and Labrador before recording a 10–0 quarterfinal victory over British Columbia 2.
An all-Québec semifinal followed on Sunday, with Québec 2 surviving a 12–11 extra-inning battle to advance to the national final.
After falling behind early against British Columbia, Québec 2 battled back to within one run in the third inning before B.C.’s six-run response shifted the game.
The loss was Québec 2’s only setback of the tournament, capping a 5–1 run and a national silver medal.
Québec 1 Bounces Back to Capture Bronze
Québec responded from a heartbreaking semifinal loss to secure bronze with a 16–2 victory over host Ontario later Sunday.
Québec had been among the tournament’s strongest teams throughout the week, sweeping Pool C with victories over New Brunswick, Ontario and Nova Scotia.
A 14–2 quarterfinal victory over Alberta moved Québec into the semifinal round, where its bid for gold ended in the 12–11 extra-inning loss to Québec 2.
With a medal still on the line, Québec quickly regrouped and produced one of its strongest offensive performances of the tournament to finish on the podium.
Host Ontario settled for fourth after putting together a strong performance front of the home crowd.
