2009 National Championship: Playoffs are set

OTTAWA – Teams settled their playoff positions at the conclusion of day three of the Midget National Championship in Fredericton, New Brunswick and some familiar faces have made the grade.

British Columbia earned their spot in the semi-finals with a 9-3 victory over New Brunswick. B.C. put the game out of reach early as they would score two points in the first three innings on this game. Christian Garcia (Vancouver, BC) hit a two-run double, while Brody Coulter (Victoria, BC) went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

British Columbia will play Ontario (London) in the semi-final, who earned their way in the playoffs with a 5-2 win over Manitoba earlier today.

Elsewhere, Québec earned their way in to medal contention with an 11-1 victory over Nova Scotia. Québec will now face Saskatchewan in the semi-finals, who earned their way in the playoffs with an 11-7 win over Alberta earlier today.

In the final matchup of the day, Fredericton earned their first win of the tournament by edging Alberta by a score of 8-6.
