Greetings from St. John’s, NL, proud home of the 2012 Peewee Atlantic Baseball Championships, Sept 6 – 10. Plans are well on their way to ensure this year’s championship will be great one. The St. John’s Minor Baseball Association along with Baseball NL are pleased to host this event. Please take the appropriate time to review the outline details regarding our championship so that your experience in St. John’s will be an enjoyable one.
TEAMS: (Players, Coaches and Team Officials)
Teams should arrive in St. John’s by Wednesday evening, September 5, 2012.
Details for the Tournament Banquet will be released soon. Tournament will be 7:30 Wednesdayat Remax Curling Club 135 Mayor Ave, St. John's. Pizzas, chicken fingers and fries will be available. Guest Speaker Dan Reardon.
Accommodations for players are as follows:
The Host Hotel is the Airport Comfort Inn and Suites. 50 rooms are booked at the Airport Comfort Inn for the players/coaches (Contact: Susan Godfrey)
7 rooms are booked at Hillview Suites for Umpires and Baseball Canada Representative (Contact: Rhonda Burry)
All rooms are booked for arrival on Sept 5 and Departure on Sept 11
Payment for all accommodations are the responsibility of the travelling teams. The Hotels indicated have provided blocks of rooms and very competitive rates. It is recommended that teams stay there for logistics.
All teams and officials who are flying in will arrive at St. John’s International Airport, and transportation to your host hotel is quite convenient as it is adjacent to hotel. The hotel has a free shuttle. Transportation to the host hotel is the responsibility of the travelling teams.
All games will be played at Lions Park (Field #1) and Wedgewood Park Field (Field #2) operated by the City of St. John’s Dept of Parks and Recreation. There will be washrooms and concessions available at both ball fields. Teams are responsible for their own transport from hotels and to the fields. Field directions can be found by going to our website at www.baseballstjohns.ca, clicking on Filed Directions on the Main Menu and selecting the field under the Select Venue dropdown box. Note The fields and their numbers changed August 16. Lions Park is adjacent to Remax Curling Club 135 Mayor Ave.
MEETINGS:
The Pre-Tournament Meeting is scheduled for 9:00 PM Wednesday, Sept 5, at the REMAX Curling club right after the banquet. Each team is permitted only to send two reps per team and their Chef de Mission/Team Manager.
UMPIRES
Umpires should arrive in St. John’s by 3:00 PM on Wednesday Sept 5.
Accommodations for Umpires have been arranged at the Hillview Suites. These suites can accommodate 2 umps per room. Individual umpires must arrange and cover costs for earlier arrival and later departures.
Transportation has been arranged for all umpires through rental cars which are pre-booked. Umpires will receive a Meal Per Diem at your pre-tournament meeting which is Wednesday, September 5 at approximately 9:50 PM at an Umpire meeting to be held at Remax Curling Club, from the Host Committee.
GUESTS:
Game ticket prices are as follows: Tournament Pass $25.00, (Seniors and students $20). Day Pass $10.00, single-game tickets $5. Six & Under Free. Tournament Passes are on sale now at the offices of St. John’s Minor Baseball . 709 576 8464.
