Armitage, Chung, Ellis and Kilshaw Power Juniors to 16-Run Win

The Canadian Junior National Team bounced back in dominant fashion in game two of the final three-game set of the MLB Draft League International Series, defeating the Mahoning Valley Scrappers 16–3 at Credit Union Field at Eastwood.

Canada sent 13 batters to the plate in the opening inning, building a 9–0 lead behind timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. Elliot Lascelles (Toronto, ON) opened the game with a walk, stole third and came home on a two-run single from Ramsey Chung (Mississauga, ON). After Aiden Kilshaw (Saskatoon, SK) drew a bases-loaded walk and Sam Ellis (La Pêche, QC) drove in two more with a single, Kadyn Armitage (Surrey, BC) broke the game open with a grand slam to left-centre field.

The Juniors continued to add on throughout the game. Maxime Blain (Repentigny, QC) scored twice during a 2-for-4 performance at the plate. Canada added two more in the seventh before Kilshaw launched a solo home run in the eighth.

In the ninth, Jalen Jacob (Maple, ON) ripped an RBI double before Kilshaw added another RBI on a groundout and Ellis brought home Jacob with a single to cap the scoring.

Armitage finished with a grand slam, two walks and three runs scored, while Ellis collected two hits and three RBIs. Chung added a triple, single and two RBIs, while Kilshaw drove in three runs with a home run, bases-loaded walk and groundout.

On the mound, Calum Andersen (Calgary, AB) struck out three over four innings in his start. Sam Davis (Beaumont, AB) followed with three strikeouts of his own over three scoreless frames. Will Zielinski (Victoria, BC) closed the ballgame for the Canadians with two scoreless innings.

The Juniors will be back in action tomorrow for the final game of the 2026 MLB Draft League International Series and the rubber match against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
