OTTAWA – Baseball Canada is thrilled to announce the names of 26 athletes who have been invited to attend the Women’s National Team Development Camp set for October 15–19 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
The five-day camp will feature a competitive schedule that includes four games against USA Baseball Development Teams, two inter-squad contests, and a Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP) Testing Workout, providing athletes with valuable opportunities to further their development in a high-performance environment.
Of the 26 athletes invited, eleven have previous experience representing Canada on the international stage, including ten members of the squad that captured bronze at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup in Thunder Bay.
Players with previous Women’s National Team experience include Lucie Anctil, Ela Day-Bédard, Alexane Fournier, Alizée Gélinas, Liz Gilder, Andréanne Leblanc, Cassie Matlock, Raine Padgham, Sarah Pengelly, Michelle Roche and Allison Schroder.
The Women’s National Team program is excited to welcome fifteen athletes who will wear the Maple Leaf for the first time as they begin their journey with the Women’s National Team program.
The coaching staff will once again be led by Head Coach Anthony Pluta and Pitching Coach Aaron Myette, both of whom were part of the staff that guided Canada to a bronze medal at the 2024 WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup, while former Women’s National Team athlete Brittney Langlais will join Kristy Watson and Logan Wedgewood in making their debuts on the staff.
Serving as both an evaluation and development platform, the camp will provide athletes with high-level competition against quality opposition while balancing the return of experienced players with the introduction of new talent to the program.
