British Columbia crowned 21U Women’s Champions

LONDON, ON – British Columbia won the gold medal at the 21U Women’s Championships in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, defeating Saskatchewan 8-5.

British Columbia exploded for 13 hits, including 3-for-4 outings from Raine Padgham and Tess Sawkins.

Along with Padgham’s three-hit performance, she recorded two runs and three RBIs. She also pitched three innings and struck out five. Meanwhile, Sawkins had an RBI and scored twice.

Michelle Roche, who won the Atlantic Baseball Player of the Game for the champions, pitched three scoreless innings, allowed three hits and struck out five.

Addie Ziebart (1), Amy Johnson (2), and Braidy Birdsall (1) registered the RBIs for Saskatchewan as they picked up silver.

Ontario takes home the bronze

Earlier in the day, Ontario won the bronze medal by defeating Québec 3-1.
