Team Expansion:
Attendance Rates:
Following their inaugural season, the PWHL expanded their league after record attendance and merchandise sales. This year (in their 3d season), the PWHL hit over 1 million fans across 120 regular season games. |
While their inaugural season is set to begin in 2026, the WPBL attracted over 600 athletes from a total of 10 different countries competing for approximately 150 roster spots on six teams. This ultimately demonstrates a strong demand from elite baseball players. Of the 150 roster spots, 20 Canadians were selected in the first WPBL draft. |
Summary: Many successful women’s professional leagues started with strong athlete demand before it established its fan base. Women’s professional baseball has already demonstrated that demand.
