The Baseball Canada Coach Developer Award is handed out annually to an individual who has demonstrated commitment and excellency in the delivery of NCCP coach education to baseball coaches in their residing province.
An asset to the growth and development of all things baseball in Newfoundland and Labrador, Greg Williams is the recipient of the Baseball Canada Coach Developer Award for 2021.
The native of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador is the Coaching Chair for Baseball NL and is largely responsible for coach education across the province.
In 2021, Greg was responsible for facilitating or co-facilitating 21 clinics with over 330 participants taking part in coach certification opportunities. These clinics are invaluable for coach education in the province and work to ensure that all coaches are properly certified to benefit current and future players from Newfoundland and Labrador.
Always looking to come up with innovative ways to deliver resources to coaches, Williams is also the chair of the Provincial Coaching Committee, which looks at different initiatives, programs, and ways to improve coach education in the province. With four other members of the committee, they had a very active 2021 season and are preparing many new initiatives for 2022.
As an active coach on the field, Greg was responsible for coaching at the local and provincial levels in the province, including taking the 15U Provincial team to the 15U Atlantic Baseball Challenge in Moncton, New Brunswick.
