Manitoba captures gold on home soil

OTTAWA – The Elmwood Giants won the gold medal at the 22U Men’s Championship in Stonewall, Manitoba, defeating Quebec 5-1.
 


Manitoba racked up nine hits including a Dawson Tanner 3 RBI, 2-for-3 performance behind a complete game six strikeout outing by Rylan Penner. 

Raphaël Picard picked up the only RBI for Trois-Rivières smashing a home run late in the game as Québec picked up the silver medal.
 


 
Ontario takes home the Bronze
 
Earlier in the day, the Guelph Silvercreeks captured the bronze medal in walk off fashion on an extra inning showdown against Nova Scotia.
 
A big five run fifth inning powered Ontario to an 8-7 victory. The Dartmouth OLR Renegades would take a shot at the comeback putting up four runs in the seventh inning to tie the ballgame at 7 runs apiece. 

An epic eighth inning saw Aidan Mendoza score the winning run on a wild pitch as Ontario repeated bronze at the 22U Men’s Championship.
