SASKATOON, SK – Québec is golden once again.
Québec captured its second consecutive 19U Women’s National Championship title with a 10–0 victory over Ontario in Sunday night’s gold-medal game at Cairns Field.
The championship capped a perfect 6–0 week for Québec, which scored 76 runs while allowing only 18 throughout the tournament. After opening the event with a hard-fought 6–4 win over Ontario, Québec won each of its final five games by the 10-run rule.
Québec’s offence found another gear as the tournament progressed, earning victories of 20–4 and 13–3 over British Columbia and adding a 13–3 win in its second preliminary-round meeting with Ontario.
The defending champions carried that momentum into Sunday’s semifinal, defeating Alberta 14–4 to secure a return trip to the gold-medal game. Québec then saved its strongest defensive performance for the final, keeping Ontario off the scoreboard to complete its undefeated run.
The victory gives Québec back-to-back national titles after the province captured the inaugural 19U Women’s National Championship in Calgary in 2025, also defeating Ontario in the final.
Ontario advanced to the championship game with an 11–7 semifinal victory over previously unbeaten Saskatchewan. After falling behind early, Ontario scored six runs over the fourth and fifth innings to take control before holding off a late push from the hosts.
The silver medal represents a second consecutive podium finish for Ontario. The team earned victories in both of its preliminary-round games against British Columbia before defeating Saskatchewan in the semifinal, with all three of its tournament losses coming against Québec.
Saskatchewan Powers Past Alberta for Bronze
Saskatchewan closed its tournament in front of the home crowd with a 15–5 victory over Alberta in the bronze-medal game.
Alberta struck first with two runs in the top of the opening inning, but Saskatchewan quickly turned the game around. The hosts sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven times in the second before adding another run in the third.
Saskatchewan broke the game open with seven more runs in the fourth, building a 15–4 advantage. Alberta added a run in the fifth but could not extend the game as Saskatchewan secured the run-rule victory with 15 runs on 13 hits.
The result completed a second victory over Alberta during the tournament. The two teams also met in one of the week’s most dramatic round-robin games, with Saskatchewan overcoming a late deficit and scoring seven runs in the ninth inning to earn a 19–13 extra-inning win.
Saskatchewan finished the preliminary round with a perfect 3–0 record, also defeating Manitoba 11–1 and Newfoundland and Labrador 11–2 to finish atop Pool B. The hosts concluded the tournament with a 4–1 record and captured bronze for the second consecutive year.
Alberta finished fourth after a strong run through Pool B. The team earned victories over Newfoundland and Labrador and Manitoba before advancing to the semifinal round.
Placement Matchups
Manitoba finished its week on a winning note, defeating British Columbia 12–7 in the fifth-place game.
Manitoba scored four runs in the opening inning and added seven more over the third and fourth to build an advantage that British Columbia could not overcome. The victory secured fifth place for Manitoba, while B.C. completed the tournament in sixth.
