OTTAWA- Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the names of 24 athletes invited to the Junior National Team’s (U-18) Selection Camp set to take place in the Dominican Republic from October 24 – November 1.

Following camp, 20 athletes will be selected to represent Canada at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Americas U-18 Baseball World Cup Qualifier in La Paz and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico from November 4-14.

The top four nations at the 12-team tournament in La Paz will qualify for the 2023 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Taiwan.

Selection Camp will see the Junior National Team play eight exhibition games against Dominican Professional Academy teams from the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres organizations.

Head Coach and Director of Men’s National Teams Greg Hamilton leads the coaching staff that includes Chris Begg, Hyung Cho and Les McTavish.

Roster Notes

• 11 players named to the roster represented Canada in September at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Florida. They are: RHP Parker Burgess, LHP Elliot Cadieux-Lanoue, RHP Makaio Cisneros, INF Ty Hall, OF/LHP Ty Hamilton, C Deiten Lachance, 3B Myles Naylor, OF/LHP Keegan O’Hearn, RHP Jack Pineau, INF Sam Shaw and LHP Reece Usselman.
• 1B Ty Doucette has participated in previous Junior National Team camps including the 2021 Friendship Series against the United States in 2021.
• 12 players named to the roster will be making their debuts with the Junior National Team program in the Dominican Republic. They are: RHP Matthew Brown, RHP Tate Carey, C Cardel Dick, RHP Matthew Donnison, LHP Lachlan Harrison, OF Noah Konings, INF Brendan Lawson, C Cam Macleod, RHP Matt Sargeant, RHP Benjamin Soke, OF Jorge Valdes and RHP Michael Yusypchuk
