OTTAWA – There will be a strong Canadian contingent of players in Durham, North Carolina when the Third Annual All-American Women’s Baseball Classic takes place from October 11-13 at Durham Athletic Park.
No less than ten Canadian players will be scattered amongst the four teams competing in the event including seven players that helped Canada win a bronze medal at the World Baseball Softball Confederation Women’s Baseball World Cup Finals held in August in Thunder Bay.
All ten Canadians participating have been involved in Baseball Canada’s Women’s National Team program in the past.
Four competing teams will play a three-game round-robin tournament with third place and championship games schedule for the final day of the event.
Team names, the Belles, Blue Sox, Comets and peaches are taken from the All-American Girls professional Baseball League that existed from 1943 to 1954.
