OTTAWA – In the morning of day two at the Midget National Championship in Fredericton, New Brunswick; British Columbia took what a tightly contested battle and tuned into an onslaught in the matter of one half inning.
B.C. and Nova Scotia were tied 7-7 going into the top of the seventh when B.C.’s offence exploded for 14 runs, putting away any doubt of the outcome in a 21-7 thrashing.
Elsewhere, Baird Kelly (Stratford, ON) was a one man show in Ontario’s (London) victory over Alberta by a score of 9-3. Kelly threw 5 1/3 innings giving up three runs, two earned, on one hit and two walks while striking out ten. He was also 2-for-2 at the plate with a home-run and three RBI.
In other action, Québec edged New Brunswick by a score of 5-4 and Manitoba beat Fredericton by that same 5-4 score.
