The Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy today announced that they are cancelling the 2020 edition of Tournament 12 that was scheduled for September at Rogers Centre in Toronto due to Covid-19 pandemic.
They released the following statement:
For the safety and wellbeing of the amateur athletes, coaches, scouts, and stakeholders who make Tournament 12 presented by New Era possible, the Toronto Blue Jays have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 edition of T12.
For the past eight years, Tournament 12 has provided a platform for the best amateur baseball players in Canada to be recruited by college and professional scouts. The success of the tournament has in-part relied on a calibrated in-person evaluation process, which starts in the spring and leads into the fall tournament, to identify the best players to be showcased. Due to safety precautions and travel restrictions, we will not be able to complete both the evaluation process and the tournament.
The Toronto Blue Jays look forward to welcoming the best amateur baseball players in Canada back to Rogers Centre in future years. Thank you for your support.
