Gilles Taillon Named New Director General of Baseball Québec

MONTREAL – The President of Baseball Québec, Jean Boulais, is proud to announce that Gilles Taillon has been named the new Director General for Baseball Québec.

“It is with great enthusiasm that Mr. Taillon has accepted to take on the challenges of this new position recently created by the Board of Directors,” says Boulais in a statement.  “His position is to begin immediately.”

Originally from Québec City, Taillon has assumed many responsibilities within the volunteer groups of Baseball Québec since 1989. A member of the Provincial Umpires Committee during his humble beginnings with the federation, he quickly rose to the Presidency. Also, he was elected Administrative Vice-President of the Board of Directors, a title he would hold from 1996 to 2000. He would then be elected President of Baseball Québec in 2000, a position he held until 2006. Since March, 2007, Taillon has been an employee of Baseball Québec as Administrative Director.

The new Director General is thrilled to be able to work within the services of amateur baseball in the province.

“It is rare in life that someone can profit from the knowledge they’ve acquired in their first career and apply them in something that for them is a true passion, which I’m lucky to say is the case for me,” says Taillon, who says he has been a passionate baseball fan since he was 9-years-old.

“I’ve always taken pride in being able to contribute to the development of younger players in our sport. This new position will allow me to continue to contribute, while working with all the members of this vast family of Baseball Québec. And while being part of a renaissance for baseball here in Québec, which, we have observed, has been well maintained over the last two years.”

The President of Baseball Québec also expressed some satisfaction with the fact Taillon has accepted to take the reins of the federation.

“Gilles has shown us that he believes in our vision and our mission that the federation has given itself in 2007. Since joining Baseball Québec, he has proven that he possesses all the qualities necessary of an administrator. His experience and his growth within our federation are assets and without a doubt we will all benefit.”
