Watch all WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup games this August!

OTTAWA-The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and United States Special Sports Association (USSSA) announced today that they have reached a broadcast agreement that will see all 50 WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup games made available for fans around the world.

The staging of the event will take place at USSSA’s Space Coast Complex in Viera, Florida from August 22-31 where 12 nations will battle For theTitle of World Championincluding No. 2 ranked Canada.

“The WBSC is excited to partner with USSSA to guarantee record coverage, broadcast reach and brand exposure for the Women’s Baseball World Cup and all event stakeholders,” said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. “More importantly, through this agreement, we will be able to deliver the major-event coverage that these top female athletes deserve, while putting Florida’s Space Coast at the centre of the international baseball universe. The Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018 will be the biggest, best and most followed edition yet.”

Canada will compete in Group B along with five-time defending World Champion Japan, Australia, Cuba, Hong Kong and the Dominican Republic, while Group A features Venezuela, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Netherlands and Puerto Rico.

Opening Round action will take place from August 22-26 with the top three seeds in each group advancing to the Super Round from August 28-30. Gold and bronze medal games are scheduled for August 31.

The Women’s National Team program will hold selection camp in Montréal beginning Monday, July 9th following the completion of Baseball Canada Women’s Invitational from July 5-8. The selection camp will ultimately determine the 20-player roster that will represent Canada at the Women’s Baseball World Cup in August.
