Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance Now Accepting Nominations for 2011 CSTA PRESTIGE Awards

Ottawa - The Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA) is pleased to announce it is now accepting nominations for its annual CSTA PRESTIGE Awards.

This year, the CSTA has amended some of its award categories to make the nomination process easier and better reflect the diversity of the Canadian sport event landscape. 

The CSTA PRESTIGE Awards celebrate the people, places and events that make the Canadian sport tourism industry so dynamic and diverse. These awards recognize individuals, companies, events and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the success of the sport tourism industry across Canada. 

The 2011 CSTA PRESTIGE Awards will be presented at a gala luncheon event on Thursday, April 28, 2011 in conjunction with CSTA’s Sport Events Congress scheduled for April 27-29 at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa.

The nomination forms and supporting information can be found on the CSTA website at www.canadiansporttourism.com.

Award Categories

The categories for the 2011 awards are as follows:

• CSTA Domestic Sport Event of the Year, presented by Tourism Montreal

• CSTA International Sport Event of the Year, presented by Tourism Winnipeg

• CSTA Community Service Award, presented by Intercontinental Hotels Group

• CSTA Collegiate Sport Event of the Year

• CSTA Sport Event Sponsor of the Year (Domestic &Int’l)

• CSTA President’s Award *

(*for sport builders, professional events, multi-sport Games, new & unique events, sport conferences & achievement etc.)

Eligibility Criteria

• Nominated events must have occurred during the 2010 calendar year unless otherwise specified

• Self-nominations are permitted and encouraged by individuals or organizations

Nomination Deadline

Nominations for the 2011 CSTA PRESTIGE Awards will be accepted via email until 8:00 pm EST on Friday, March 4th, 2011.

*Please note that Shawn Rice (Prince George, BC) was the recipient of a CSTA Community Service Award in 2010. Shawn was a volunteer that had an enormous impact on the success of the 2009 World Baseball Challenge. Shawn was instrumental in the marketing and fundraising components of the event.
