“Get to know your PSO (Provincial Sport Office)” is a new feature on baseball.ca that will provide an informative look at each of the ten Provincial Baseball Organizations throughout Canada. The 2014 baseball season has already begun for some provinces, while others are still counting down the days until they can get on the field. Either way, baseball season is upon us so let’s take a closer look at the organizations that help bring baseball to communities across our country!

What to watch for in 2014:
Charlottetown to host 2014 Baseball Canada Fall Convention
The annual Baseball Canada Fall Convention will take place in Charlottetown from November 6-8. The 2014 edition of the annual gathering has special meaning this year from both a Baseball Canada and local host perspective.
“With 2014 being the 50th Anniversary of Baseball Canada as well as the 150th Anniversary of Confederation here in Charlottetown, the event will have lots of meaning for us,” says Baseball PEI Executive Director, Jacob Smith.
“(We’re) extremely excited about this opportunity to bring a Baseball Canada event to Prince Edward Island. We will be working hard over the next several months to bring the event together.”
2014 13U National Atlantic Championship in Charlottetown
Charlottetown will welcome some of the top 13U teams in Atlantic Canada to the provincial capital from September 4-7 for the 13U Baseball Canada National Atlantic Championship.
“We have been the site for several championship tournaments over the years but this will be the first time hosting the 13U National Atlantic Championship,” added Smith.
Toronto Blue Jays Honda Super Camp
On July 28th and 29th at Charlottetown’s Victoria Park, former Blue Jays Jesse Barfield, Brian McRae, Tanyon Sturtze and Devon White will be on hand to deliver a Honda Blue Jays Super Camp.
“After such incredible results and participation last year at the Honda Super Camp we are excited to have the Jays return for another camp,” said Smith. “The support given to Canada’s smallest province from the Blue Jays is incredible and we look forward to another successful year.”
Association Restructuring
In 2014, Baseball PEI has implemented a way to make all 12 associations stronger.
“We developed a proposal that will allow the associations to have transparency and accountability within, explained Smith, and to insure the best possible experience for every kid playing baseball on Prince Edward Island.”
