OTTAWA- It didn’t take long for Marcus Knecht (Toronto, ON) and the Toronto Blue Jays to come to terms, after the Jays selected the outfielder in the 3rd round (113th overall) of the recent MLB Draft.
OTTAWA- Baseball clinics aimed at girls to help increase interest in baseball and encourage participation in the sport were recently held in Newfoundland and Manitoba. The clinics involved Women’s National Team players along with other members of the local baseball community providing instruction on hitting, throwing, running, fielding, catching and pitching.

OTTAWA- Former Major League pitcher Paul Quantrill (Port Hope,ON) will be inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame during the Hall’s induction weekend of June 17-19. The ceremony will take place in St.Marys, ON home of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.
OTTAWA-The 2010 edition of the MLB Draft came to a close Wednesday, among the players chosen were 17 Canadians. The draft was once again successful as 31 Canadians were selected over the 3 day event.

OTTAWA- Kellin Deglan (Langley,BC) was the first Canadian selected in the MLB Draft. The left handed hitting catcher was chosen 22nd overall in the first round by the Texas Rangers. This marks the fourth consecutive year that a Canadian has been chosen in the first round.
GUERRA – After two straight days of rain outs, the Junior National Team got back on the field to complete its Dominican Summer League Camp schedule. Unfortunately the results were not what they had hoped for as the JNT dropped their two final games, first a 9-7 defeat at the hands of the New York Mets, then a 6-4 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
HAMILTON – The best baseball players in Ontario University Athletics (OUA) will be on display at the Rogers Centre on Sunday, May 30 as the 2009 champion Western Mustangs take on the OUA all-stars in the fourth annual OUA Baseball All-Star Showcase.
BOCA CHICA – The scheduled game between the Junior National Team and the New York Yankees at the Dominican Summer League Camp has been postponed due to rain.
